whole foods :: new lynnwood store

my friends a whole foods were kind enough to invite me to a sneak peek to their new store in lynnwood.  it was so fun to tour this new store and there are so many fun and unique features; it's a real treat!

they'll have a cooking department so if you'll feeling uninspired about what to cook, swing on by for help creating a great meal.  they'll even have an iPad at the station and highlight favorite recipes from local bloggers!  {recipes from JOAT?  hint, hint.  wink, wink!}

my favorite stop - the specialty foods section aka the cheese, wine, beer and cider stop.  the store will have an expanded cider selection and beers from local breweries.

cookies and mt. townsend creamery cheese were a real treat!  both local companies.  i loved the mirracole morsels peanut butter cookies.  divine!

i loved the extensive beauty department too!  the lynnwood store has a swap program where you can bring in any beauty product and they'll let you swap it for one of their 365 products.  how nice is that?

and like every whole foods the lynnwood store has the same great meat, seafood, dariy and bakery departments you know and love.  

the store is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day {the coffee bar opens at 7 a.m.}  2800 196th Street SW, Lynnwood, WA 98036.

love :: lindt dark chocolate with a touch of sea salt

santa slipped one of her favorites into my stocking this year - a lindt dark chocolate with a touch of sea salt bar.  i wasn't sure if i'd like it, i'm not a huge dark chocolate fan.  but in a moment of sweet despiration i tired a square and loved it.  now i found myself sneaking a square each night.  the chocolate isn't overly dark and bitter and the 'touch' of salt is really just a touch.  yum!

super bowl food highlight #4 :: secret recipe cpk spinach dip

next up, a secret recipe from california pizza kitchen, their spinach dip.  if you haven't had this before it's really good.  it makes a lot so it's great for a crowd.  it's a bit labor intensive but well worth it.  every time i've made this someone asks for the recipe!

super bowl food highlight #3 :: classic gaucamole

when it comes to your super bowl spread you can't forget the classics like guacamole.  i heard somewhere that the largest amount of guacamole is consumed on super bowl sunday.  i'd believe it!  here's my recipe.

super bowl food highlight #1 :: spinach dip with cauliflower

with the super bowl coming up this weekend i thought i'd highlight some foods and dips you might want to serve at your party.  first up - a spinach dip with cauliflower.  this is a heathier spin on a classic spinach dip.  it packs the same flavor but less cheese and add cauliflower.  if you're looking to go lighter try this one out!

edamame + guacamole = edamole.  and it's delicious.  found at whole foods.

 

halloween candy bark

 halloween was a week ago and if you're like me you probably have a few pieces of candy laying around.  i thought a great way to pawn off to friends so i don't devour it all myself would be to make some halloween candy bark!  {see previous bark endeavours here}

here's how you make it:

1 package of white chocolate chips
{you can use whatever candy you want but here's what i used}
2 reese's peanut butter cups, chopped
2 kit kat sticks, chopped
2 fun-size butterfingers
1 fun-size package of m&ms
candy corns

in a double boiler or glass bowl over a small pot of boiling water, melt chocolate until smooth.  in a 12x19" pan lined with foil or was paper, spread the melted chocolate.  sprinkle candy over the chocolate.  chill for 30 minutes.  remove from the foil and break into large pieces.  store in an airtight container in a cool place for up to one week.
